A good cause is worth a good crowd. On Tuesday night, Lauren Remington Platt, Byrdie Bell, Hannah Bronfman and more clamored into The Jane hotel to support the Opportunity Initiative, a bold, handcrafted jewelry collaboration between designer Yuwei Lee and the United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women. The philanthropic collection, sold online at Yuwei Designs, consists of eight limited-edition designs ranging from $145 to $1,795. Key pieces include 18K gold-plated earrings, bracelets, rings and necklaces — all accented with orange citrine stones to symbolize a bright future, one that doesn’t involve violence against women and girls. Plus, 100 percent of the net proceeds will benefit the UN Trust Fund.
“The United Nations Trust Fund and I worked together to take certain pieces of their logo that have significance and translate that into the jewelry,” Lee told us at the event. “You’ll notice all the pieces have a teardrop shape, which is the core of their logo. The teardrops represent the tears of survival for these women.”
