Forget that whole 70s revival. We’ve been there and done that. At Yigal Azrouël, the modernist art movement took shape in the 21st century, and guess what? It felt new again. After the show, we grabbed a quick minute with the designer to pick his brain.
theFashionSpot: What was your starting off point for Fall 2015?
Yigal Azrouël: I was thinking about the early 1900s and modernist artists like Man Ray and Kazimir Malevich. This collection wasn’t just about a beautiful coat or dress. It was about telling a story, and relating the pieces to each other.
tFS: Did you celebrate Valentine’s Day over the weekend with anyone special?
YA: I spent it with all of my team. We gave love to each other!
tFS: What was your New Year’s resolution?
YA: I always want to get better and look forward. I think whatever happens, happens for a good reason.
tFS: That’s so positive!
YA: Why not be happy?
