Like its (distant) colleague LOVE, French magazine Lui has a history of serving up scantily clad models for the holiday season. We use the term “clad” very loosely here. Last year, the glossy printed twelve December 2015/January 2016 covers, each starring a different topless top model. (Jourdan Dunn, Carolyn Murphy, Lara Stone and more #freedthenipple.) Those who purchased the issue received a complimentary 2016 calendar featuring the steamy Luigi and Iango-lensed photos. In the spirit of the holidays, proceeds from sales went toward the fight against breast cancer.
Lui’s racy December 2016/January 2017 offering follows a slightly different format. The issue is printed with four distinct covers, all photographed by David Bellemere. Each photo features one of four bare-chested beauties: Elsa Hosk, Barbara Palvin, Anaïs Mali or Hilary Rhoda. In Lui’s 2017 calendar — like last year, free with purchase — the Victoria’s Secret veterans “are the four seasons.” (How the calendar is divided remains to be seen.) Sadly, the press release announcing the titillating end-of-year issue makes no mention of a charitable donation.
On Monday night, Hosk flaunted the NSFW photos on Instagram, censoring her “objectionable” bits with small pink hearts. (In our opinion, the posts would be vastly improved by Nood’s anatomically correct stickers.) Unlike LOVE‘s sensual, hyper-stylized advent calendar, Lui‘s photos are fairly cookie-cutter. To wit: One shot shows Hosk smoking in front of a mirror wearing only thigh-high nylons, covering herself with her hand. Not that she doesn’t look incredible. Happy New Year, Lui subscribers.
