Rest assured, Marc Jacobs will be spending many more long days at the office. In a recent interview with WWD, the New York Fashion Week darling quashed rumors that he’d be stepping back from his namesake label. He and incoming Chief Executive Eric Marechalle, formerly of Kenzo, will continue to work together to help Marc Jacobs (the brand) regain its former retail glory.
According to Jacobs, “there is no truth” whatsoever to the speculation. “We’re all hard at work on the collection and the preparation for our show in September. That’s really all I have to say on that,” he pronounced.
Like the rest of us, Jacobs’ team reportedly found the whisperings “upsetting and stressful.” The designer is doing his best to appease their/our worries. “I have been in the office every day, night and weekend working away on the collection/show,” Jacobs stated. “I don’t know what else to say or do but carry on working as usual.”
There you have it: The Katie Grand-styled show will go on. Per tradition, celebrities, influencers, buyers, editors and those of us watching remotely will bid farewell to New York Fashion Week with Marc Jacobs on September 13 at 6:00 p.m. EST. Location and cell phone policy TBA.
