When selecting dream wedding dresses from the Spring 2018 Haute Couture shows in Paris, we couldn’t help but think, “What would Meghan Markle wear?” Rumor is the now former actress has already decided on a bridal designer, but not a gown. And there were definitely a lot of princess-worthy dresses. (OK, some would have to have lining added for a trip down the aisle at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle but when you’re a soon-to-be royal, asking for a little customization is no big thing.)
Embroidery reigned supreme this haute couture go-round with numerous pieces featuring intricate eye-catching accents. We also saw a lot of sheen thanks to gold and silver embellishments plus a couple glistening fabrics. Designers felt the need to reimagine the veil this season with Chanel’s models boasting mini mesh versions over their romantic ponytails, Guo Pei topped her bridal look with an ornate crown and both Schiaparelli and Christian Dior gave us hoods.
