That’s a wrap on New York Fashion Week and the reviews are in. From
Marc Jacobs delivering an exquisite collection paying homage to the excess and exuberance of the 80s to
Michael Kors ‘ dreadful attempt at keeping up with the cool kids, there was a lot to love — and loathe. Sies Marjan gave us life with a colorful and delicate collection while
Victoria Beckham shamefully emulated Phoebe Philo’s aesthetic (again);
Tom Ford made us want to jump in a time capsule back to the 80s while Irina Shayk disembarked a spaceship and walked hand in hand with a robot around the Philipp Plein catwalk; Alexander Wang gave the
Working Girl movie costumes a futuristic update while Anna Wintour cozied up with none other than Cardi B as they sat front row. NYFW has certainly kept us on our toes and throughout the week, theFashionSpot’s ride-or-die forum members have been at hand, voicing their unfiltered opinions of all the highs and lows of the Fall 2018 season.

NYFW Hits & Misses 1
HIT: Marc Jacobs
"Now that's an answer! Work mother! Absolutely stunning collection! I love the silhouette. 1981 drama... I live!" [maxlinden ] "Absolutely gorgeous collection that is unequivocally, unabashedly about FASHION in the biggest, most forceful sense of the word. It's such a beautiful mélange of haute 80s references, from Montana, to Mugler, to Ungaro, to YSL, to Lacroix, and the most timely of all, Alaïa." [Spike413 ] "An undeniable fashion moment. Exquisite! I'm all for it, love it, the mood, the impactful styling, the dramatic presentation and, of course, the clothes and for me this is the great thing about this collection, it's all about the clothes and the bold and mysterious woman that MJ wanna wear." MISS: Michael Kors
"I see someone is feeling the pressure to stay relevant. This is bad, even the great casting doesn't help." [TREVOFASHIONISTO ] "It feels so much...cheaper than usual? The special David Downton collaboration printed dresses don't even look that great." [RedSmokeRise ] "I'm mostly neutral when it comes to Kors but this is so Michael Korsberry . This reads so unauthentic to him, beyond the idea of individuality and separates." [TheoG ]See all the looks from the Michael Kors collection .

HIT: Coach 1941
"Spectacular collection! That opening dress is swoon-worthy. And I want nearly all the men's looks, except the leather trousers. Yes to all the FAKE fur coats and jackets as well. I'm continually impressed with Stuart's take on this brand." [Benn98 ] "Amazing collection!" [john2elmejor ] "His best collection for Coach. I think he really established himself as a really good outerwear designer." [TaylorBinque ]See all the looks from the Coach 1941 collection .

MISS: Calvin Klein
"Oh man . This looks like the models rolled around on the floor of a Goodwill and wore what stuck." [whippie ] "This collection is pretty much at a Jeremy Scott/Moschino level of 'playfulness' and pastiche, and that's not something I ever thought I'd say about Raf." [Steddycam91 ] "The moment that I saw the first look I knew that I was about to see a complete disaster. Depressive, VERY pretentious, confused..." HIT: Oscar de la Renta
"Their most beautiful collection yet! I'm pleasantly surprised as to how much I like this! I do hope there was more color throughout the collection cause I think those looks are the most faithful to original ODLR." [ToniOrtega ] "Their best yet for the house, no doubt. The previous ones were too contrived and directionless for me, but this one feels focused and finally a good balance between classic ODLR and pushing it forward." [Marc10 ] "Like everyone else said, this collection is a really good step in the right direction." [RedSmokeRise ]See all the looks from the Oscar de la Renta collection .

MISS: The Row
"I can spot one of the Olsens in the front row. Girl, can you even pretend that you are the designer running and sweating backstage? Embarrassing. The only good thing here is the casting as usual. I'm not buying their lifestyle. It's really nice in terms of quality but I'm done with the NY versions of Phoebe [Philo]." [helmutnotdead ] "They should get a stylist because all these girls have never looked worse before. The hair is terrible and everything is just too heavy-looking." [tatouejeremie ] "This collection is lifeless and boring. They need to really focus on their fitting. Everything seems too big." [GivenchyAddict ]See all the looks from The Row collection .

HIT: Sies Marjan
"This is seriously giving me life, it's beautiful!" [disco54 ] "Major crush on this collection! The color palette is sublime. Everything looks very delicate, thoughtful, yet effortless." [Valentine27 ] "Now we're talking. I lost my faith in him but GOD, THIS IS SUPERB. I want to buy everything. If you look the details are even better. The color palette is incredible, he has such great taste in fabrics. I want to know who is the stylist now because it has changed a lot." [helmutnotdead ]See all the looks from the Sies Marjan collection .

MISS: Jeremy Scott
"Tacky and unoriginal. I am somewhat impressed by Jeremy Scott's ability to make everything he designs look incredibly cheap though." [Nitroxyl ] "It's overworked and kind of boring actually. It used to be more fun and energetic. I'm exhausted just looking at this." [GivenchyHomme ] "I hate everything he does but I give him credit for persistence..." [softgrey ]See all the looks from the Jeremy Scott collection .

HIT: Prabal Gurung
"I love this collection! It looks so cozy, stylish and chic at the same time." [June ] "One of my faves in New York so far. Very plush and artisanal-looking." [rubydon ] "So far this is one of the few NYFW shows that I liked. It's definitely overstyled but I think it adds, rather than distracts, to the pieces so I'm OK with it." [Littleathquakes ]See all the looks from the Prabal Gurung collection .

MISS: Victoria Beckham
"This is so Celine! Victoria is shameless!" [Lola701 ] "With Phoebe leaving Celine, it's kind of moving that Victoria has done a comprehensive collection devoted to her work. Really sweet." [Steddycam91 ] "I don't know what the hell she's gonna do now without Phoebe. What happens when the Celine look gets outdated?" [Marc10 ]See all the looks from the Victoria Beckham collection .

MISS: Brandon Maxwell
"Where's the fashion?" [Lola701 ] "Was there really a need to stage a runway show for this?" [ThatDudeOverTher ] "His earlier collections seemed to have some gravitas despite the minimalism, but this? It's just your run-of-the-mill Park Avenue style. There's nothing there." [StoneSkipper ]See all the looks from the Brandon Maxwell collection .

HIT: Eckhaus Latta
"First time I actually got the hype, this is a very solid collection! I love the colors and how the clothes hang from the body - very subtly sensual." [StoneSkipper ] "I already liked their last collection but fall now even more, mostly because of the avant-garde silhouettes. Also the diversity on the runway feels natural and not forced (at least for me)." [alterapars ] "YES! I LOVE IT! I was rooting for them since the first day. I'm really happy about the investment news and I want them to make it work. I think Eckhaus Latta is going to be the next hot thing of NYFW." [helmutnotdead ]See all the looks from the Eckhaus Latta collection .

MISS: Colovos
"We should all [give] thanks to the gods because they left Helmut Lang. Just like all NYFW, irrelevant and boring. Beautiful cast though." [helmutnotdead ] "This collection is just a typical NYFW non-event: sporty, with some minimalism going on and irrelevant. And it could have been done by literally anyone there so... It just brings nothing new to the table." [perhydrol ] "It's a pity that a cast like that was wasted on such an anonymous show." [Lola701 ]See all the looks from the Colovos collection .

HIT: Dion Lee
"It's still absurd to me that he hasn't been given the direction of a big house yet, or that his brand is so underrated. One of the few out there consistently making modern, sleek and desirable clothes. Another impeccably strong collection." [Marc10 ] "This looks very fresh and exciting something which you rarely see at NYFW. I am quite impressed." [disco54 ] "The first few looks with the bras showing on top or cut-out through tailored suits resonated with me so much, especially with today's #MeToo and #TimesUp movements!" [ToniOrtega ]See all the looks from the Dion Lee collection .

MISS: Bottega Veneta
"What a sad and gloomy show... Tomas [Maier] did wonderful things for BV but I think time has come for him to move on..." [Lola701 ] "I think it's time for him to go. In the last few years his collections have been so... there. It's just there. He reached that point in a designer's tenure when you don't really have anything left to say, so you just produce 'stuff'. No passion, no excitement. Just clothes." [Marc10 ] "This could be from a few years ago, it doesn't look very with the times." [gossiping ]See all the looks from the Bottega Veneta collection .

HIT: Brock Collection
"The sense of romantic, bucolic femininity has been developed beautifully, and this collection in particular feels also very chic and expensive. Plus it's always refreshing to see clothes for women, in the literal sense." [Marc10 ] "Pure romance." [HeatherAnne ] "Very pretty, and a beautiful color palette." [GivenchyHomme ]See all the looks from the Brock Collection collection .

MISS: Jason Wu
"What a sad frumpy little mess. The beginning was like a funeral. The rest looked like thrift store couture. Nothing is properly fitted or tailored. Overall it's very unflattering and uninspired. It's time for him to start doing lookbooks. These clothes aren't good enough for a show." [GivenchyHomme ] "Thank you for saying the clothes are already giving the funeral vibes. I also think, given that silhouettes on most of the clothes can hardly flatter women’s bodies; thus, they should genuinely consider burning all the clothes to ashes and pretend this has never happened." [GreyVetiver ] "Yeah...this didn't flatter the models at all!" [gossiping ]See all the looks from the Jason Wu collection .

HIT: Narciso Rodriguez
"Sublime as always! Pleasantly surprised to see much more color as well." [ToniOrtega ] "Watching this over and over. It's sublime. His best work in years. He is a really clever designer. You can really see the difference between a truly master of cut and the mediocrity of all those brands calling out themselves as 'minimalists'." [helmutnotdead ] "I've always been in love with his use of colour. And I'm colour-blind... Just lovely." [HonorsToRobbie ]See all the looks from the Narciso Rodriguez collection .
Image: Imaxtree
MISS: Tom Ford
"Remove Tom Ford's name and slap Moschino on it and we'd be none the wiser. Karl Lagerfeld doesn't need to lose any sleep!" [Benn98 ] "Wow, some of the things here are beyond atrocious. Very tacky." [anlabe32 ] "This is a piss-poor collection and very tacky. By far the worst TF collection EVER." [disco54 ]See all the looks from the Tom Ford collection .
Image: Imaxtree
MISS: Alexander Wang
"This collection is a perfect example of how little he's grown as a designer, this is incohesive, lots of ideas seem thrown in just for the sake of it, the construction is not that special and I do not get the sense that these clothes are somehow unique or luxurious." [YohjiAddict ] "It’s painfully basic. I get that post-Balenciaga, he’s resorting to the basics that made him famous. But even back then, there was a sleekness, even luxury-component to the hoodies and sweats that made you sort of secretly want those overpriced American Apparel knockoffs. This... is generic mall trash." [Phuel ] "It had massive potential, but the gimmicky parts just downgraded the whole thing." [ToniOrtega ]See all the looks from the Alexander Wang collection .
Image: Imaxtree
MISS: Philipp Plein
"I just don't understand how he's so successful. Who on Earth is buying this tacky, overpriced mess?!" [lelaid ] "I don't think there's anyone in fashion that I despise more than this guy. It's all so try-hard, humorless, unoriginal, and egotistical." [StoneSkipper ] "Yawn. I can't tell the difference between this and half of the other trashy shows in New York now. At least in Milan he stood out a bit more." [gossiping ]See all the looks from the Philipp Plein collection .
