If there’s one thing we’ve learned during Milan Fashion Week, it’s that designers still know how to knock it out of the park. Max Mara gave us major flashbacks to the good old Yves Saint Laurent x Tom Ford days, Giorgio Armani is still amazing as always, Dolce & Gabbana had an array of drones (yes, seriously) fly down the catwalk carrying the brand’s latest handbags, Jeremy Scott brought Jackie O back to life for his most wearable collection yet at Moschino and, once again, Donatella Versace paid a spectacular homage to brother Gianni.
Despite the successes, there were many puzzling moments. Are we officially over Alessandro Michele’s charity shop-chic aesthetic for Gucci ? Does Miuccia Prada need to take a long vacation away from Prada ? Should Tod’s have used dogs as accessories on the runway? Here’s an unfiltered look at all the runway hits and misses from Milan Fashion Week’s Fall 2018 season and grab your passport for Paris!

Hits & Misses: MFW
HIT: Max Mara
"This really gives me Tom Ford vibes, but still has a clear identity and that is very good. This collection is about a very bold and glamorous woman and I was missing seeing it in fashion." [ghostwriter10549 ] "Fashion with a capital F! This is one of the best shows of the season so far! It's glamorous, it's commercial, it's chic! The styling and the cast are completely on point! If I had the money, I'd buy almost every single piece! Brava!" [ToniOrtega ] "Love it. I'm getting a bit of an Yves Saint Laurent by Tom Ford vibe, which I'm living for." HIT: Moschino
"I can't believe that there are so many wearable pieces. The prints are also great IMO." [kokobombon ] "Moschino is more on theme than all the other shows right now, love it!" [Scotty ] "Can't believe that Jeremy Scott x Moschino has become one of the collections I look forward to the most in Milan, but that's it! This is fun, radiant, energetic. In a world of Michele and Demna's copies, I love that he stays true to himself and keeps it fun, fresh and fashionable." [apple ]See all the looks from the Moschino collection .
MISS: Gucci
"Hideous, nightmare, train wreck, fashion is dead, fire him, bring Frida Giannini back, etc." [StoneSkipper ] "What’s the point of these elaborate and undeniably impactful presentations/sets if the clothes are always the same blob of quirky vintage-y kitschy crap repeated x 100 collection after collection?" [mistress_f ] "Honestly, this guy is a genius. To send the same ugly thrift store collection down the runway for so many seasons now, and managing to build and maintain the hype... People will really fall for anything." [MyNameIs ]See all the looks from the Gucci collection .
HIT: Fendi
"The best show of the season so far! Some looks do play out like déjà vu, but overall, Karl manages to keep the DNA of the brand alive without turning the collection into dullness." [Ken Doll Jenner ] "What a glorious moment. Perfect collection. I love this sense of aristocracy mixed with a bit of irony and smart felling of market, I think that a lot of designers today want to do it but they fail most of the time, not here, this was very well executed. The boots are marvelous, hope that yellow one becomes a hit next season like the red ones from Fall 2017." [ghostwriter10549 ] "This was divine!! Their best collection in a string of stellar seasons! I love everything about it! The strict silhouettes, the amazing cuts, the fabulous materials, the hints of commerciality (without being tacky). Everything was on point and pure perfection!" [ToniOrtega ]See all the looks from the Fendi collection .
MISS: Prada
"I think this might be the worst Prada collection, yet." [dior_couture1245 ] "Dear Lord. Miuccia do yourself a favor and retire and live a happy life. Damn, I love her but she needs to change her team and drop out those horrible ideas from her mind. I can't believe that her fall collection 10 years ago was fire. She was a leader, everyone was following her. This... Honestly, no words. The saddest thing is that I was expecting something disappointing." [helmutnotdead ] "Y'all...this was really, really awful. Seeing Sasha Pivovarova and Amber Valletta pop up just made me sad for what this brand used to be." [Steddycam91 ]See all the looks from the Prada collection .
HIT: Versace
"I obviously miss the glamorous and sexy Versace, but that's just not 'in' nowadays. Every brand has changed. Some for the worst, some for the better. This feels like a decent Gianni tribute. Last season was too literal. She literally redid his work. This time, she used some of his influence and the spirit of his work and added her own thing/touch, and made it current." [guimon ] "Hm, I can do something with this. The footwear is FANTASTIC and the clothes, at this point, I just thank God that it's not overdesigned like some past collections, so good work Donatella." [ghostwriter10549 ] "Interesting collection! I love the shoes and the headscarves." [Nitroxyl ]See all the looks from the Versace collection .
HIT: Dolce & Gabbana
"Finally an acceptable show with really interesting pieces. That red dress is unexpected but beautiful! Hope they will focus more on their job than the 'millennials'." [biagiolr ] "Surprisingly there are some nice pieces in this collection...same old same old but less irritating than usual. Some of the dresses are pretty." [fluxxx ] "I'm seeing some throwbacks to old Dolce & Gabbana which I'm really liking, particularly Spring 2008..." [Wintergreen ]See all the looks from the Dolce & Gabbana collection .
MISS: Jil Sander
"Wow, the iconic Jil Sander brand is wasted here. What an irrelevant mess." [anlabe32 ] "Why is everything so big and frumpy? Jil Sander is a master tailor, the complete opposite of this collection. I'm surprised that they haven't referenced that, it seems odd to me. What woman wants to be smothered and wrapped up in these clothes?" [GivenchyHomme ] "Oh my goodness, could this be the biggest waste of a fashion show ever? I literally could not remember the previous look once I went to the next. There's absolutely nothing noteworthy about this entire collection at all." [StoneSkipper ]See all the looks from the Jil Sander collection .
HIT: Emilio Pucci
"Not bad without a creative director." [Nymphaea ] "This is decent, but nothing too special here. Dresses and coats with prints 'a la Pucci ' and the type of clothes that are trending now. I love the boots, for me, the highlight here." [ghostwriter10549 ] "The collection itself is not even bad, I wish they focused more on the prints because that's Pucci's signature and the print looks were the best of the show." [apple ]See all the looks from the Emilio Pucci collection .
MISS: Blumarine
"Not really into this. Some dresses look actually really unflattering on models. I prefer when Blumarine does more ethereal and light collections but with more attention to the fabrics and materials." [apple ] "The coats are not really needed in this. Her older collections were stunning... I hope she'll come back and do more of what she used to." [gossiping ]See all the looks from the Blumarine collection .
HIT: Krizia
"The new Krizia continues to impress." [zoom ] "Probably my favorite collection from Milan. It's sexy, sophisticated and the silhouettes are so cool. The outfit on look 3 and the black pieces made my day better. Everything here is about the clothes and the styling is flawless." [ghostwriter10549 ] "The last look is one of my top 10 favorites from this season." [helmutnotdead ]See all the looks from the Krizia collection .
HIT: Giorgio Armani
"Amazing as always." [Nocturnal ] "UGH, so stunning. Ninety-six looks of exuberant fall fashion. At Milan, we can always count on Armani and Fendi." [ghostwriter10549 ]See all the looks from the Giorgio Armani collection .
MISS: Tod's
"The casting, the puppies, it all felt like they are desperate for attention. And let me say it clearly: dogs are not accessories!" [apple ] "Someone clearly got inspired from that Vogue Paris dog issue." [Rigida ] "The dogs are cute but that's all! Bit disappointed by this. Could do with using some different colours maybe. The styling is also different these days. Preferred it a few years ago." [gossiping ]See all the looks from the Tod's collection .
HIT: Etro
"Nice! I really like all the long dresses with the belts. The use of prints is good here. I think it's a solid collection for Etro." [apple ] "At this point, I'm a bit tired of these kind of clothes, but this collection is so well executed and beautiful, I can't deny this." [ghostwriter10549 ]See all the looks from the Etro collection .
MISS: Roberto Cavalli
"Tamed. Cavalli on a leash." [jeanclaude ] "Girl, are we in the middle of the 2000s?" [christian zh ] "The saddest thing about Cavalli is that the house didn’t really need a revamp. Mr. and Mrs. Cavalli did a good job at making their work relevant. Their last few collections were very Cavalli but yet very modern. I really don’t think that they are going to turn this mess into a success." [Lola701 ]See all the looks from the Roberto Cavalli collection .
HIT: Salvatore Ferragamo
"Very Italian bourgeois, but it was executed in a very fashion way. Good job." [ghostwriter10549 ] "Safe but beautiful." [liberty33r1b ] "A pleasant surprise. I didn't expect anything from S.F. but this time he delivered. A lot of clothes to be desired. This is classic, quite boring but hell, it's the kind of thing that a customer wants from a classic luxury Italian brand." [helmutnotdead ]See all the looks from the Salvatore Ferragamo collection .
MISS: Alberta Ferretti
"It looks so heavy that I feel tired after looking at the pics. Really, what's the point of another 80s-inspired show in 2018?" [jeanclaude ] "Get ready to see shoulders this season." [Vitamine W ] "I was just thinking this is the Milan Marc Jacobs. Don't need two of that show." [whippie ]See all the looks from the Alberta Ferretti collection .
HIT: Sportmax
"I like it. This Balenciaga trend/virus really works in some brands like Sportmax." [ghostwriter10549 ] "I've always loved Sportmax. It's clean, futurism without all the fashion press hype. Love this collection too as usual." [jeremydante ]See all the looks from the Sportmax collection .
