Milan Fashion Week has been one crazy ride. Donatella Versace grabbed headlines by having Jennifer Lopez shut down the Versace Spring 2020 show in a revamped version of her classic jungle print dress. Speaking of jungles, Dolce & Gabbana took us on a wild journey through the “Sicilian jungle.” Never taking himself too seriously, Jeremy Scott had a little fun with his Pablo Picasso-inspired Moschino collection. Alessandro Michele kicked off Gucci’s controversial showcase with models wearing “straitjackets” on a conveyor belt. And Miuccia Prada put out her best collection in years.

Hits and Misses: MFW Spring 2020
HIT: Gucci
"I LOVE IT! It's like an elevated version of his debut collection. There's a really good balance between his signature quirkiness and an elegant simplicity plus a slightly couture vibe in some looks. It almost looks like a continuation of the fall campaign. The colors are amazing. The menswear is very strong for me, I want it all!" [Marc10 ]
"I actually don’t hate it. I kind of like this cleaned up Gucci. The menswear, in particular, is kind of chic and handsome in a way. Love the caramel satin blazer with the chartreuse satin trousers look. And there are some pretty women’s looks, too." [dior_couture1245 ]

MISS: Dolce & Gabbana
"Still in business?" [perfect blue ]
"Sicilian mama goes on safari with 50 wardrobe trunks...and still she has nothing to wear." [jeanclaude ]
"Use some new silhouettes!" [russianelf ]

HIT: Versace
"J.Lo!! Hands down already the best moment of this season. What a truly iconic moment. It does feel like it is the beginning of the 2000s with Jennifer having a box office smash and delivering iconic fashion moments." [Piece Of Me ]
"Damn, what a fantastic collection! Pure fashion!" [liberty33r1b ]
"This is pretty good. Love the black looks with the gold hardware." [Mutterlein ]

MISS: Marni
"The planet is too polluted to produce these kind of irrelevant clothes. They're so ridiculous in a very inauthentic way, just for the sake of being quirky and artistic. I don't really get how this would be a moneymaker in any way." [perhydrol ]
"This looks like the result of a Project Runway unconventional materials challenge." [sore ]
"This is honestly just tragic. Furthermore, he came out at the end barefoot? That’s just embarrassing." [Nomar ]

HIT: Missoni
"I haven't taken the time to look through all the collections for spring, but this is my favorite so far. Nothing new or revolutionary, for sure. But I love the mix of patterns and colors. The fit and drape look inviting and I would wear every one of the men's looks. Love it." [dfl-001 ]
"Love the color and prints. Pure joy!" [Caffeine ]
"One of the stronger collections this season so far, even if I'm not convinced that I'll remember much about it in a few weeks. The styling is very good and a lot of the presentation harks back to when Missoni was really relevant." [Fiercification ]

MISS: Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini
"Another brand making a living off 80s leftovers." [jeanclaude ]
"If this collection doesn’t end up in the pages of Vogue Paris, I don’t know anything about fashion. This is an 80s mess." [Lola701 ]
"It's like Milan's version of Isabel Marant, but less trashy MTV video and more Brooke Shields, but nonetheless too rooted in the 80s." [disco54 ]

HIT: MSGM
"Great collection so fun and full of life. I always appreciate how he makes quirky but still very wearable clothes." [Nomar ]
"It's something wild. I like this line for the odd unhinged piece." [Not Plain Jane ]

MISS: Fendi
"This collection doesn’t have the focus, the point of view, the vision or the precision I usually see at Fendi. This is Silvia's first solo collection... I’m going to let her find her place, but it will eventually break my heart to give up on Fendi." [Lola701 ]
"I know brown is a signature color of the house, but they've really overdone it here. Even with all those different shades, it sort of just washes everything out. While the prints aren't that bad, they don't add much, either." [Nomar ]
"The styling is on the wrong side of gimmicky and the fifty shades of brown section falls flat on its face, there are some nice garments in here, but that lack of cohesion and substance makes it all seem terribly banal. Fendi is quite commercial, but the color palette, playful accessories and rich textiles always made it seem so fun and fresh. This is muddy and dull." [YohjiAddict ]

HIT: Jil Sander
"Interesting collection and definitely better than last season." [liberty33r1b ]
"A refreshing improvement from their previous collections. Now it looks more Jil Sander (although I would remove the fringe part and some volumes here and there). Very sophisticated and relaxed at the same time." [jeanclaude ]
"This is charming, there’s an effort of seduction (the lipstick, the bijoux), the allure is quite womanly." [Lola701 ]

MISS: Salvatore Ferragamo
"I admire Paul Andrew's attempt not to join the universal cult of the millennial kid, but this collection feels a tad bloodless, if not plain bland. Such incredible craftsmanship as Ferragamo's should be put to better use." [bc collector ]
"It's just so...blah. Nice, but completely unremarkable clothes. I think it really shows that he's an accessory designer, there's little to no fashion dialogue in his collections." [Marc10 ]
"Somebody is trying too hard and the styling is a mess for me. And the sock thing is bad here. I just don’t get this collection." [Lola701 ]

HIT: Etro
"Wonderful collection! I have always been a big fan of Veronica Etro and her brand, this was very breezy, great patterns as always and I thought the finale was rather interesting." [Ruito ]
"Cavalli is in trouble, Pucci is almost dead...and all the rest is either too tacky, slightly dated or simply confused. So there’s a boulevard for Etro right now! It’s familiar, commercial, well done but very approachable. It’s not revolutionary, but it can appeal to a lot of women." [Lola701 ]

MISS: Bottega Veneta
"It's depressing that this became an influencer brand in less than one season! This is a nice, average collection with too much hype behind it that will be oversold and over-marketed to the point that I am already sick of it." [SophiaVB ]
"I Googled 'fashion for dummies' and this was the first result. So bland and basic, I'm not remotely interested about what he's trying to say with this." [helmutnotdead ]
"What a letdown!! I was expecting something powerful, like those amazing leather coats made of individual panels he made for his debut, but all I got was hideous monkey prints (which reminds me too much of Prada)!" [jeanclaude ]

HIT: Moschino
"Looooove this! I was looking forward to Moschino, Jeremy puts on a fun show that is so welcomed in a sea of lifeless clothes that look all the same. And this was not only fun but also clever! I'm so curious to see celebs wearing these pieces on red carpets and I'm so curious to see Meisel's ideas for the campaign." [apple ]
"Really fun and dare I say quite a clever collection (especially coming from Jeremy Scott). This is the first time in a while I feel like a collection makes me want to see editorials inspired by it." [Fiercification ]
"This is surely Jeremy’s best collection at the helm of Moschino and maybe the best collection of his career! Everything is just right." [Lola701 ]

MISS: Max Mara
"Max Mara consistently delivered the last seasons, but the awful hair and makeup here is astoundingly distracting. My eyes are burning, can't look at the clothes." [Vitamine W ]
"The clothes just seem so lifeless here considering the fabulous jewel tones of last season and those gorgeous one-shoulder looks the year prior. I am appalled at how bad this all looks." [GERGIN ]
"Always absolutely loved Max Mara, always been bias toward the brand and look forward to the show every season. Yet this is so awfully dull, especially for a spring collection and completely indefensible." [vogue28 ]

HIT: Prada
"Finally! A real good and fresh Prada collection! It’s really a great collection and a great return to form for Miuccia! I love the simplicity and how strong everything is without having to shout about it!" [Lola701 ]
"Nothing groundbreaking, but overall the collection felt like a breath of fresh air after the last season of dark, armor-like pieces. I loved the breezy, elongated silhouette, starting with the first look on Freja, it brought my memory back to some mid-nineties Prada looks, but here they were rebooted and given new life thanks to the exquisite fabric choices." [bc collector ]
"Honestly one of my favorite collections so far. Just lovely and fresh and simple. Lots of things I would love to have." [anlabe32 ]

MISS: Alberta Ferretti
"I see a designer that gets more and more generic with every season. These clothes could be anyone's." [bc collector ]
"Isabel Marant meets Elie Saab. What an odd mix..." [Lola701 ]
"Not her best collection, in my opinion. There are a few looks in the first part of the show that really disappointed me. The second part with darker shades was better." [biagiolr ]

HIT: Tod's
"Oh! This is fantastic! That olive green jacket and skirt combo is very easy on the eyes." [eugenius ]
"It’s the perfect kind of collection for the type of brand that is Tod’s. It needs to be slightly boring and timeless. Very beautiful. It’s even better than Hermes." [Lola701 ]
"Love this!" [liberty33r1b ]
