of fashion month is officially over. Milan Fashion Week Fall 2022 showcased the best the world of fashion has to offer. It’s arguably the best Milan Fashion Week in decades.
Glenn Martens kicked things off by hitting a home run with his Y2K-inspired Diesel collection. Meanwhile, there was something Hitchcockian about Kim Jones’ latest Fendi collection. According to Fausto Puglisi, the Roberto Cavalli woman will be vamp,
camp , seductive and playing hard to get. At Max Mara, Ian Griffiths was inspired by the work of Swiss artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp. Models paraded through a metal sci-fi tunnel at Prada with co-creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons perhaps producing their best collection yet. There are plenty of must-have pieces like shimmering slip skirts and strong-shouldered blazers.
Gucci debuted another surprise collaboration this time with Adidas Originals, while Jeremy Scott gave us a conceptual show to remember where everything from lamps to sofas to curtains served as inspiration. The new era of Bottega Veneta has begun with Matthieu Blazy making his long-awaited debut melding color and texture while celebrating the brand’s legacy of exceptional craftsmanship. No dress was too tight and no skirt too short at Versace. Giorgio Armani presented a graceful and sophisticated collection as models walked the runway in silence out of respect for
Ukraine .

MFW Fall 2022 Hits and Misses
HIT: Prada
"Wow, what a magnificent collection! Loved everything, especially the coats! Bravo Miuccia and Raf!" [Ruito ]
"I found it their best offering yet. Very sharp, gorgeous coats and knitwear. At least less and smaller Prada logos. And the casting was divine!" [Kenzofanatic ]
"It's a great collection! Very sharp looks at the beginning. The coats look divine, especially the leather ones. I'm sure the aviator shearling jackets will be a hit as well as the bombers covered in flowers. I really liked the skirts, too!" [Valentine27 ]

MISS: Gucci
"Alessandro Michele's Gucci has NEVER done it for me — ever! And at this rate, I'm convinced Michele needs collaborations with other brands to make his Gucci somewhat covetable and buzzworthy. Nothing I like or able to remotely tolerate here whatsoever." [vogue28 ]
"His shtick is really so over. It's so unbelievably predictable. And at a certain point, all the hoopla of the shows starts to feel very silly... And can we make a single collection these days without a collab?" [dior_couture1245 ]
"Eyesore. What a joke." [avonlea002 ]

HIT: Moschino
"OH MY GOD! Moschino just knocked it out of the park! Show of the season!" [Ruito ]
"This collection can easily be Jeremy Scott's best of his career. It's a perfect balance between decoration elements and classic dressmaking. A lot of fabulous evening gowns..." [THD96 ]
"I've come to depend a great deal on Jeremy Scott's Moschino over the years to give us a strong dosage of glamour with a splash of kitsch and he nails it each and every time. What a show! Another brilliant collection where the detailing is sublime. A whole multitude of flawless looks." [vogue28 ]

MISS: Fendi
"Tailoring is horrific and the trousers need to be burned immediately." [TianCouture ]
"I don't know how he does it, but it always looks like the cheapest fabrics possible were used. It's just mind-boggling. There is probably a huge team of in-house designers working alongside him, not to mention people from atelier, and yet such horrible fabrication and tailoring choices are made. Ridiculous." [avonlea002 ]
"So sad and gloomy. Kim Jones has nothing to say and his tenure is boring." [Lola701 ]

HIT: Giorgio Armani
"He’s in a league of his own. It’s quintessential Giorgio Armani and it’s extremely chic. Everything feels so elegant plus kudos to this man for making velvet look so light and easy to wear." [WAVES ]
"Armani always manages to produce a sophisticated and elegant show." [Urban Stylin ]
"That dress with the shawl lapels toward the end is pretty spectacular." [RedSmokeRise ]

MISS: Dolce & Gabbana
"Wow, this was atrocious! Another low for the brand!" [Ruito ]
"I've about had it with oversized shoulders." [dior_couture1245 ]
"They have jumped on the bandwagon of the banality of millennials/Instagram fashion. And it looks desperate. This screams desperation. Really." [Lola701 ]

HIT: Alberta Ferretti
"Ferretti's collections always ooze a sense of elegance, sophistication and luxury, which this collection offers... The textures and color palette are both sublime — love those shades of gray Ferretti incorporated this season." [vogue28 ]
"So lush, so glam, but louche and nonchalant." [disco54 ]
"Ferretti never changes her formula much I know, but she does what she does very well." [Ruito ]

MISS: Versace
"Versace has never looked this cheap. This could pass for a random NYFW designer. It's also the worst styling job I have seen in a long time. Everything was so sleazy, clothes didn't fit properly. Shoulder straps were sloppy. Disgusting." [avonlea002 ]
"This was really a disaster! The silhouettes were all so unflattering!" [Ruito ]
"I just feel like this collection does not have that much to offer in terms of fashion proposition or fresh ideas..." [Lola701 ]

HIT: Max Mara
"The perfect mix of practical and editorial and the pieces are strong. The casting is perfect and the styling is fabulous." [Lola701 ]
"I like the color palette, the materials, the cuts make the collection look so luxurious." [THD96 ]
"It's quintessential Max Mara and as per usual the coats are exquisite. The color palette is gorgeous and the show as a whole just feels very coherent. Major fan of this!" [vogue28 ]

MISS: Marni
"Criminal." [Nomar ]
"When you're going to completely butcher a brand's identity, at least have some sort of idea where you want to take it. This is just embarrassing." [Machinegumm ]
"This guy just took over someone’s brand and destroyed it. This is pure destruction. Francesco Risso doesn’t respect or love the brand. That’s the main issue for me." [Lola701 ]

HIT: Bottega Veneta
"Amazing debut." [Rigida ]
"Such a great collection. It's not a big departure from Daniel's language, but he added a lot more substance and maturity. His experience shined here, the tailoring was perfect, beautiful craftsmanship, everything looks desirable, including the accessories." [Marc10 ]
"This feels super mature and desirable. Some of those patchwork dresses remind me of old Balenciaga. Marvelous work." [Norden ]

MISS: Roberto Cavalli
"OK, leopard we get it. Move on…" [Lola701 ]
"What's the deal with those Versace bondage knockoffs. It's in your face tackiness without any humor or taste." [THD96 ]
"This is missing energy and energy." [reese06 ]

HIT: Jil Sander
"A highlight of MFW for me and I've never been one for Jil Sander. The first and second looks are both flawless, love the structure of those two jackets. A massive fan of the fabrics and the subtle color palette. The show felt cohesive and luxe and I can certainly appreciate that." [vogue28 ]
"For me this is a definite improvement on last season. It feels a bit more grown-up and their usual color palette works with this kind of 60s reference." [Norden ]
"I quite like the big collars and crochet-lace pieces." [Not Plain Jane ]

MISS: Trussardi
"What a disappointment. The work on the leather is quite unimpressive. This is not believable for Trussardi. A miss!" [Lola701 ]
"Oh, this collection is definitely not a good debut... I get that Trussardi's suits want to resurrect the brand somehow, but I don't think this direction is a good one. It's too detached from the existing image of Trussardi..." [perhydrol ]
"Bets are in for how long Serhat Işık and Benjamin A. Huseby last as creative directors unless they come up with some brilliant idea next season." [bc collector ]

HIT: N°21
"Solid. So focused, tightly-edited and still eclectic, athletic and odd enough. Some gorgeous separates..." [Phuel ]
"Gorgeous and scrumptious..." [TianCouture ]
"What a wonderful collection! It feels nostalgic, but nostalgic in a really good way. It's full of beautiful textures and strong silhouettes." [perhydrol ]

MISS: Ferrari
"Looks like the child of Balmain and Philipp Plein." [Urban Stylin ]
"This collection looks so dated and has no identity whatsoever." [THD96 ]
"This whole thing is such a gigantic waste of money and time. Are they even really producing these clothes? Is anyone buying it? Actually, do people even know about it?" [Marc10 ]

HIT: Blumarine
"I liked the darker color palette this season, it felt a bit less 'girly'." [gossiping ]
"The opening numbers were wonderful! I absolutely adore the rose collared dresses, the knits and those SHOES! I think it’s a great mix of new and old ideas." [GERGIN ]
"A hit of a collection IMO, very confident, strong and quite sexy. I love the strong color palette (especially the pairing of purple and red), all the ruched detailing and flashbacks to Tom Ford's Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent." [vogue28 ]

HIT: Diesel
"Interesting combination between Y2K era and post-apocalyptic vibe. I also like his way of treating materials here." [Koibito ]
"I liked it quite a bit more than I expected. It’s trashy, bubbly and fun, but it doesn’t give itself away at first viewing…" [YohjiAddict ]
"Thought this was pretty much on the money in terms of the industry's current obsession with Y2K! I love those oversized belts as miniskirts and the use of the Diesel logo, which instantly took me back to when Diesel was one of the hottest brands in our sleepy town way back when." [vogue28 ]

HIT: Philipp Plein
"I have to say I don’t hate this. Definitely less of an eyesore than usual." [kenndale ]
"To be completely honest, I don't hate this either and I'm able to find a few elements and looks that I love — like all those black dresses with the cut-out and rhinestone detailing. Quite like the short military-inspired khaki denim skirt, which takes me back to Christophe Decarnin's Balmain." [vogue28 ]
"You know something is wrong when the tackiest brand ever presents a more digestible collection than collections from designers more experienced and respected in the industry." [Lola701 ]
