Forum Members React to Veronica Leoni Appointed Creative Director of Calvin Klein

Today’s major fashion news is that Veronica Leoni has been appointed creative director of Calvin Klein. The Italian designer, with a CV including stints at Jil Sander, Céline, Moncler and The Row will head up the Calvin Klein Collection division, consisting of womenswear, menswear, underwear and accessories. On the announcement, Leoni said, “I’m thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to write a new chapter of the Calvin Klein story. For decades, Calvin Klein interpreted the idea of bold self-expression, and I am willing to empower it with a strong accent on style and creativity.” Leoni is the first official creative force behind the iconic New York-based fashion label since the departure of Raf Simons in 2018. The 2023 LVMH Prize finalist is expected to present her debut collection during the Fall 2025 season.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Pretty sure their reputation and brand equity is ruined after what happened with Raf Simons, and after having not shown at fashion week for such a long time. After all these years, what’s the point?” [Frederic01]

“I missed the Calvin Klein collections (Francisco and Italo), will be interesting to see where this goes.” [youthinasia]

“To be honest, I’m eager to see what Veronica Leoni has to offer because why not? The only way to go is up for CK at this point. Whatever Leoni does can’t be more damaging than Raf Simons’ tenure. Simons literally dragged the whole Calvin Klein Collection operation into the ground. The future is bright for you Veronica. I’m just happy that they chose a veteran who cares about the quality of design and the construction behind a garment.” [THD96]
