Paris. Haute Couture Fashion Week. Day One. Dior. On the first day of the collections, Jonathan Anderson unveiled his sophomore couture collection as the creative director of the storied French fashion house. Guests perched front row included Sabrina Carpenter and Parker Posey, who joined the fashion crowd at the historic Musée Rodin (transformed into a lush oasis filled with palm leaves and foliage). The celebrated Northern Irish designer evoked the work of American artist Lynda Benglis and her poured sculptural forms in his dramatic plisse pleating, warped draping, and unconventionally mixed materials. Three-dimensional floral embroidery, sculptural drapes, and layered fabric applications emerged from backstage, with Anderson drawing inspiration from flowers, gardens and organic forms.
