We’re being serious! If it wasn’t Simone Rocha’s fluffy grandma-style jumpers, it was House of Holland‘s crazy granny style prints. Think patterns that were big in the ’60s, ones your gran loved so much, she’s still wearing them now … but in a more demure way, of course.
A fluffy knit
Nothing screams Granny more than a comfy knitted number and Topshop’s Tall fluffy sweat £29 is just that. It’s perfect for snuggling up in during winter.
That go-to handbag
All grandmas have that one bottomless handbag filled with everything from band aids to mint imperials, and we think that ASOS’ Matt and Nat Japanese paper handbag would fill this role very nicely. Sleek, eco-friendly, and most definitely has that vintage feeling.
The silk scarf
Now, everybody’s Nan finishes off an outfit with a chic silky scarf for fashion purposes — and obviously because it helps to stop a nasty draft! Topshop’s Key to Freedom silk sarong £32 is perfect for wearing as a cute little scarf around your neck, but on the occasions that you don’t fancy emulating your gran, it can also be worn as a sarong.
The crazy skirt
Bold prints are key for most Nan’s wardrobes whether it be garish florals or crazy geometric prints. We love Dorothy Perkin’s black and stone midi skirt £22. It might not be bright but that’s one bold floral print, yet ever so versatile to wear.
Sensible Shoes
All grannies preach about the importance of wearing a sensible pair of shoes. And so, when they’re off out for a night on the town (that’s the local bingo parlour to you and me), they still play it safe while opting for a tiny party heel. Look at Office’s lovely nude leather mid heels, £50 — it’s the perfect way to complete your outfits.
Now, if you throw all of these pieces on together, then, yes you’re probably going to look like a grandma! That isn’t actually the goal. Just opt for one or two of the pieces to infuse a dash of granny cool into your attire!
