White After Labor Day, a Red Carpet Favorite

If America has learned anything from Project Runway, it’s that fashion has no set rules. However, like clockwork, at the end of every summer, fashion authorities tell us that wearing white clothing and accessories after Labor Day is fashion suicide. According to Time.com, “as far back as the 1920s, Coco Chanel made white a year-round staple,” so it’s no surprise that celebrities are breaking the rules.

Rachel Zoe wowed audiences during the last season of her reality television show, The Rachel Zoe Project, when the stylist beamed at the thought of her clients Cameron Diaz and Demi Moore having “white moments” at the Oscars. “Everyone looks good in white,” she gushed as she searched for the perfect dresses for the awards show. This fashion rule is clearly outdated.

Kirsten Dunst chose a vintage look for the annual Los Angeles Museum Of Contemporary Art Gala in Chanel Resort 2011. White was definitely the color of the evening as Malin Ackerman and Mila Kunis also stunned in simple white frocks.

Anne Hathaway wore a white-lace Valentino dress at a screening of her new movie, Love and Other Drugs in New York City. Halle Berry stepped out of her New York City apartment in a strapless white dress, paired with a white clutch, and simple black heels.

Jordin Sparks wore a glittering white dress when she performed at the Disney Times Square Grand Opening Reception. Christina Aguilera left her Mickey Mouse ears at home when she received a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.
