If you have trouble telling Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen apart when playing “spot the stylista,” this might serve as a rough key—if she’s wearing polka dots, it’s probably Ashley. Possibly inspired by Marc Jacobs’ Fall 2011 runway which was dotted all over, the petite designer has been sporting dots a lot lately. Whether keeping it casual or dressing up, check out these chic summer looks to see how Olsen is seeing spots.

In one of the most conservative ensembles we’ve seen her in lately, Olsen channeled vintage charm while walking her dog in Tribeca. She tucked a crisp white button-down into a dot-textured navy midi-length full skirt, accessorizing with enormous round Prada sunglasses, a tan leather The Row bag, and black and gold flat Chanel sandals. She’s been styling a center-part bun lately, which worked with this classic look. Olsen recycled the same accessories into a completely different ensemble that was casual but stylish. She teamed a basic grey knit The Row tunic with a teal and grey Junya Watanabe below-the-knee skirt for a muted polka dot look.

Olsen knows how to dress up dots, too. At a special screening of Midnight in Paris in NYC, she wore a billowing chiffon polka dot dress by Dior, working the sheer trend. Her heavily-defined eyes added to the 60s appeal of the dress, and she chose practical black kitten heels.
