The ornate gold embellished collar gave Jessica Chastain‘s black Alexander McQueen dress at the National Board of Review Awards a regal touch. The metal’s rich color works perfectly with her natural auburn hair and autumnal lip, and her metallic cuff and black satin platforms finished the look. Naomi Watts won our hearts with a solid gold look at the People’s Choice Awards, wearing another gown by McQueen with a black skirt and barely-there sequin gold halter neck. At the premiere of Girls, the always-polished Allison Williams wore a black and gold Altuzarra cocktail dress with a pretty scallop design decorating the top. Julianne Moore took her black Givenchy sheath to the next level of elegance at the LoveGold event celebrating her Golden Globe nomination by adding a gold tassel necklace around the dress’ mock neck.

We’re in love with Amanda Seyfried’s effortless elegance at The Late Show with David Letterman, enhancing her fair coloring with a modish black shift. The Michael Kors dress featured pockets embroidered with a gold baroque design, and she smartly kept her accessories to a minimum. Helen Mirren was the picture of royalty in her black Badgley Mischka gown with gold accents at the shoulders and waist which imitated the cut-out trend. Jennifer Lawrence wore a fun look from Altuzarra at the BAFTA tea party. Her dress’ black and gold patterned bodice cut a flattering figure with its tasseled belt and peplum. Kate Hudson smoldered at the Golden Globes in a black and gold look by McQueen (we can guess which designer started this trend). The gown’s plunging neckline, gold halter and sunburst belt details stole the show.
