Nina Stotler: I’m Nina Stotler, youth market editor for Stylesight.com, and designer/founder of VonKottwitz Jewelry.
tFS: Which Fashion Night Out event are you most looking forward too?
NS: I’m most excited to see the Cindy Sherman exhibit, on display for one night only, as well as the performance by Karen Elson at the Balenciaga show.
tFS: Which shows are a must see for NYFW Spring 2011, and why?
NS: For S/S 2011, I’m really interested in seeing what some of my favorite local designers are going to come up with. In particular, Ohne Titel, whose wildly innovative yet wearable creations I look forward to seeing each season, as well as Cushnie Et Ochs, newcomers who enliven the concept of body each season.
I’m also taking a look at Mandy Coon, a designer who worked for Camilla Staerk before recently breaking out on her own with some lovely prints. Frank Tell has had some impressive leather work recently, so I’m hoping he’ll continue developing it for spring. And finally, as always, I’m expecting Preen to be gorgeous. I love their dresses and silhouettes.
tFS: Where will you be resting (I mean working) between shows (i.e. bar, cafe, or venue)?
NS: There is no rest between shows, unless it’s in the back of a taxi!
tFS: What will be inside your “it” bag this week?
NS: I’m trying to carry less this season, since years of heavy handbags are taking their toll, but I will be keeping my Blackberry, HD Flip video camera, Moleskine notepad, and Canon G10 close.
tFS: Is there an item you can’t live without during Fashion Week?
NS: At this time of year especially, I can’t live without my favorite beverage – unsweetened black iced tea from Starbucks. I drink gallons of it.
tFS: Which designers will have the most power over this year’s trends?
NS: I think there are a number of prominent designers in New York who noticeably steer mass market trends. They include Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, and Phillip Lim.
tFS: In your fashion week life, which techy device is crucial to survival?
NS: During fashion week I rely heavily on my calendar when away from my desk, so I definitely need my Blackberry more than ever.
