From fedoras to extra-wide brimmed styles, hats are in! Wear them in the winter for some added warmth, wear them in the summer with a cute dress, or wear them to the airport to hide your inevitable plane hair – whatever the occasion, hats are here to stay.
Missoni showed them square and futuristic on the runway, and Just Cavalli added bohemian glamour, making them big and floppy. Perched atop ‘It’ girls for years, from Brigitte Bardot and Bianca Jagger to today’s Diane Kruger and Sienna Miller, hats are that super luxe accessory that begs for extra large sunglasses and chic hat boxes to store them in.
The key to finding the perfect hat lies in first, its shape and size, and second, the perfect style to go with your outfit. A larger brimmed hat can we worn with long flowy sundresses or taken to the races with a sleek shift, but it’s going to look less appropriate on a long flight (unless of course you are Carrie Bradshaw.) The fedora can be tricky, with a larger brim not suiting those of us that are more petite, but looking incredible on someone a little taller. The trick is to try, try, try, before you buy – and make sure you check out all your options!
