It’s no secret that New York is bitterly cold in February and managing to look chic in frigid weather is always a challenge with New York Fashion Week making it extra hard. But as fashion week winds down, temperatures are reaching for the mid-50s. Excitement buzzes as attendees can finally shed a few layers and show off their recently purchased pieces for spring. It’s not warm enough to store your coat just yet, but many are turning to bright colors and bold prints to celebrate spring’s long awaited trek to New York.
Coral is a surefire way to get yourself prepared for warmer days. Soft oranges, blushes and bright tangerine shades will make you stand out in a crowd, regardless of the weather. Pair with neutral accessories, like this black Chanel purse (left) or brown boots (right) to streamline your palette.
The great thing about color pieces is that they’re often so unexpected that the rest of an outfit can be kept simple. With black skinnies or tights, a colorful piece will attract attention no matter what. Nervous about being too bright? Think fit first, color second. Go for a well tailored item, like this jacket to the right, and you’ll have no problem staying chic while making a bold statement.
February’s shockingly warm temperatures may be a global warming induced fluke, but there are still little ways to prepare yourself for winter’s exit. Start slowly by adding a dash of color to your daily ensemble, like a bright pink bag (left) or a floppy maroon hat (right). Fashion week isn’t the only time of year you should be experimenting. It’s just the beginning!
