Limited Edition Hammitt for True Blood Handbags Revealed

By now it’s pretty clear that when it comes to the big and small screens, vampires are one trend that won’t be going away anytime soon. With that in mind, L.A.-based contemporary handbag line Hammitt teamed-up with HBO’s True Blood for a limited edition collection of handbags inspired by the show.

Called Hammitt for True Blood, the five piece collection marks the first collaboration of its nature for Hammitt. I recently stopped by the HBO building to preview the bag styles, while sipping on some “True Blood” (the natural drink of choice at such a preview event), and I was impressed at how Hammitt stayed true to its brand (Italian leather, lots of rivets, grommets, and studs), while clearly being inspired by some of the show’s leading characters.

A collection stand-out is the faux-fur, werewolf-inspired Alcide handbag, which features a piercing wolf image on the underside of the bag flap and the Eric cross-body bag, which is inspired by vampire sheriff Eric Northman and as such features bullet-shaped studs and flat rivets on its gussets.

Rounding out the collection is the Sookie, a nod to Sookie Stackhouse, which is a dove grey suede bag folded into pleats with multi-colored rivets on its sides; the Lafayette is inspired by V dealer Lafayette and comes in either a metallic or a non-metallic leather iteration with smooth reflective studs on its sides. There’s a reference to the street term of vampire blood in the shape of the exterior pocket, and the stamped alligator pattern throughout the leather is meant as a nod to Lafayette and the Louisiana bayou. Lastly, the Fangtasia handbag is inspired by the vampire bar on the show, which explains its gothic aesthetic. Each style is lined with a deep red tonal printed lining with the abbreviated “True Blood” logo.

I have to admit that I’m not much of a vampire show/movie fan, but I’m finding bullet-shaped studs and werewolf print hard to resist.

Prices for the Hammitt for True Blood collection range from $395 to $675 and like all of Hammitt’s handbags, each one was hand crafted by local L.A. artisans. The collection will debut on July 15 to coincide with the fourth season of True Blood, but all of the styles are available now for pre-order.
