Stay Dry in Style with Chic Summer Rain Gear

It has been a dreary, rainy, sticky, humid — and frizzy! — spring so far on the east coast. With the forecast promising more days of rain ahead, it’s a good time to pick up some lightweight rain gear for the rest of the season. It’s hard to be stylish while trying to keep dry, but we’ve found some of the cutest jackets, boots, and umbrellas to help combat the storms.

Jackets

1. This rain jacket by Mackage is a super versatile piece that will take you from spring to summer, and into the fall. It comes in camel and black, complete with a zip-out hood, perfect for cooler summer nights. It’s perfect for anyone who doesn’t want to look like they’re wearing an actual rain jacket! $230 at Bloomingdales.

2. If you are a sucker for the classics, then you’ll be all over this traditional bright yellow rain slick from Lark & Wolff By Steven Alan. It’s chic enough for the city, but will be the perfect addition to your summer wardrobe, especially if you are lucky enough to spend some time on a yacht. $69 at Urban Outfitters.

3. J. Crew‘s Wispy Wind Trench in neutral earthy pink is just the opposite. It looks like rainwear but it’s ultra lightweight, which is perfect for the hot and humid rainy days. $198 at J. Crew.

Boots

Tall rain boots are great for fall and winter, but the rubber can feel really icky once it gets warm. Ankle boots are the answer to your summer rain needs. They keep you dry and cool; the short boot by Ilse Jacobsen looks like the combat boots that were so popular last fall! They come in five different colors and look really cute with sundresses. Get a pair in bright yellow to match the rain slicker above. $99 (sale) at Urban Outfitters.

Hunter is the leading name in rain boots, but I find they are way too bulky for spring and summer. They have just launched their awesome line of rubber ballerina flats! These shoes are cute, functional, and will let you splash in a puddle on your way home from work. $95 at Neiman Marcus.

Umbrella

The bubble umbrella will actually keep you dry! Use it and love it. Your hair will thank you. $22.95 at Umbrellas.com
