CHANEL CRUISE SHOW

From New York’s Grand Central Terminal to an airplane hangar in Santa Monica, Chanel is no stranger to taking their Cruise Show on the road and 2009 was no different.

The show, which this year took place in Miami’s legendary Raleigh Hotel (which played host to several Esther Williams films), was inspired by the culture of travel.

Lagerfeld said that the concept of the Cruise Collection is based on traveling, and that Miami is the ideal destination because it’s a city that moves and has energy, with its small districts and its animated streets. Lagerfeld adds that he likes Miami’s colors, light and the idea of sun, summer, carelessness, easy life, and happiness.

120 people were flown-in for the show, which featured over 60 looks and 18 synchronized swimmers, but if you weren’t one of the lucky few to attend, Chanel is launching a widget to allow Chanel fans to view clips from the show, red carpet interviews and images of the celebrities.
