Renee Perle, an icon that John Galliano has referred to as “a kittenish Parisian coquette” was a Romanian Jewish woman who moved to Paris and became the muse of the French photographer, Jacques Henri Lartigue.

Lartigue photo-documented the antics of his elite upper crust family and friends, and is considered the pioneer of “snapshot” photography and one of the leading photographers of the 20th century.

“Around her,” Lartigue wrote, “I see a halo of magic.”
