We’ve already highlighted the top Fall 2020 runway trends, including stylish ties, tons of fringe and harnesses galore. But street style has its own set of seasonal trends. Sometimes it looks like all members of the street style set got together to coordinate their ensembles. Just look at how many wore quilted coats and carried micro bags to check out the Fall 2019 shows.
So what’s trending for Fall 2020?
Neutral looks are still popular, but with a twist. New shades and even patterns popped up to put a fresh spin on the ongoing trend. Collars came pointed, ruffled and in doily form. White dresses partially covered up by coats were also part of the new street style uniform.
Which trends are officially out?
Pack away those mini and micro bags because excessively large bags have returned with a vengeance. And while quilted coats are still shown on the runway, when it came to street style shearling coats were the only way to stay (really) warm.
Get ready to take notes because you’ll want to try out these trends right away before the weather warms up. We’re predicting that some of them will be out of fashion by fall. Here are the top street style trends spotted outside the Fall 2020 shows.

Novel Ways to Wear Neutrals
Going neutral from head to toe has been popular out on the streets for a while now, but for Fall 2020 the street style set upped the ante. From working in patterns, rotating in army green and rust shades along with pops of metallics, there’s nothing subdued about these ensembles.

Big Bag Theory
After seasons of putting up with micro bags too small to carry anything, the pendulum has finally swung the other way. Or at least when it comes to street style. Gargantuan carryalls were slung over shoulders or tucked under arms. Hey, go big or go home.

You already know that 70s-style pointed collars are set to be big for spring. But outside the Fall 2020 shows, all manner of kooky collars proved popular. We spotted doily-esque versions popping out over coats, wide embroidered ones and Victorian Era ruffled wonders.

Say It With Shearling
When you’re walking from show to show from February to early March, your outerwear is going to get a lot of attention. So we weren’t surprised to see shearling coats literally everywhere. There were classic coats with the cozy lining, hooded bombers and even shearling-trimmed collars and pockets. It’s enough to make us wish winter would hang on a little longer.

Winter White Dresses
This year we’re advocating wearing white way ahead of Labor Day. Dresses in shades of white were practically everywhere in every fashion capital. Some were short and sweet, others long and loose. And texture was key. From feathers to tweed to scalloped necklines, these white hot dresses were anything but boring.

Plaid is a cold-weather staple so we aren’t shocked to see the runway favorite sticking around on the streets of New York, London, Milan and Paris. How do you rock plaid the street style way? By mixing patterns (both plaid and others) and colors.
